WORKSHOP 2014

Exhibiting Art for Sale

Venue: TU Berlin, Senate Room H 1035/1036, Straße des 17. Juni 135, 10623 Berlin
Date: 22/11/2014, 9:15 am – 6 pm

Third Workshop of the Forum Kunst und Markt / Centre for Art Market Studies at the department of Modern Art History, Technische Universität Berlin

The commercial gallery provides a space where the significance of art is set in complex relation to its market value. Those who exhibit art for sale will carefully consider the manner in which the objects are presented. By investigating the strategies of cooperating and competing agents, this conference not only aims to reveal modes of presentation typical for specific periods; it also seeks to address the changing concepts of selling exhibitions as a reflection of the art market’s history from the 18th century to the present day.
