Each fall, the Deutsches Zentrum Kulturgutverluste<\/a>\u00a0(German Lost Art Foundation) hosts a specialist conference. This year, noted French and German experts will give lectures on the subject of systematic art theft in France, reviewing the results of research performed on this topic in both countries under the heading “Theft & Trade. The French Art Market under German Occupation (1940-1944)”.<\/p>\n

The German Lost Art Foundation is pleased to invite interested parties to attend the public conference\u00a0between November 30, 2017 and December 1, 2017\u00a0at the\u00a0Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland\u00a0<\/strong>(Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany), Friedrich-Ebert-Allee 4, 53113 Bonn.<\/p>\n

Conference languages<\/strong>: French and German<\/p>\n

Who were the stakeholders, and who were the people who were robbed? How did Nazi policies, art historical expertise and market interests intertwine? How did the collaboration work? The conference will explore all these questions, additionally creating a thematic focus via the presentation of new research outcomes on acquisitions by Hildebrand Gurlitt in France. Works of art from the so-called “Schwabinger Kunstfund” (Art Fund of Schwabing) will be introduced in the exhibition “Dossier Gurlitt. Nazi Art Theft and its Consequences”, which will run at the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle in Bonn at the same time.<\/p>\n

The conference is organised by the\u00a0Deutsches Zentrum Kulturgutverluste<\/a>\u00a0(German Lost Art Foundation)\u00a0in collaboration with the Deutsches Forum f\u00fcr Kunstgeschichte Paris<\/a> (German Art History Forum Paris) and the Forum Kunst und Markt<\/a> at the Technische Universit\u00e4t Berlin (Centre for Art Market Studies at Berlin’s Technical University).<\/p>\n

Chaque automne, le Deutsche Zentrum Kulturgutverluste<\/a> organise un colloque th\u00e9matique. Sous le titre \u00ab\u00a0Spoliation et trafic. Le march\u00e9 de l\u2019art fran\u00e7ais sous l\u2019occupation allemande (1940\u20131944)\u00a0\u00bb, des experts fran\u00e7ais et allemands de renom pr\u00e9senteront cette ann\u00e9e des communications sur la spoliation syst\u00e9matique des \u0153uvres d\u2019art en France et confronteront les r\u00e9sultats des recherches men\u00e9es sur ce th\u00e8me dans les deux pays.<\/p>\n

Qui furent les acteurs, qui furent les spoli\u00e9s? De quelle mani\u00e8re la politique nazie, l\u2019expertise de l\u2019histoire de l\u2019art et les int\u00e9r\u00eats de march\u00e9 \u00e9taient-ils imbriqu\u00e9s? Comment fonctionnait la collaboration? Le colloque souhaite aborder toutes ces questions mais il veut aussi mettre l\u2019accent sur le th\u00e8me des acquisitions de Hildebrand Gurlitt en France en pr\u00e9sentant des nouveaux r\u00e9sultats de recherche. En parall\u00e8le, des \u0153uvres d\u2019art issues du dit \u00ab\u00a0tr\u00e9sor artistique de Munich\u00a0\u00bb seront montr\u00e9es dans une exposition intitul\u00e9e: \u00ab\u00a0Inventaire Gurlitt. La spoliation des \u0153uvres d\u2019art par l\u2019occupant nazi et ses cons\u00e9quences\u00a0\u00bb \u00e0 la Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle de Bonn.<\/p>\n
